Summer 2008: UK underground on the move!

Summer 2008: loads of stuff get gathered together and slung in the back of cars, vans and lorries, then driven to fields in the middle of nowhere. With large applications of goodwill and TLC, it’s transformed into the venues, stalls, cafes and props that form the colourful, vibrant backdrop to the UK underground festival scene.
As the country teeters on what could be a major recession, (if not worse!), you can’t stop the faithful rambling around from field to field around the country, braving the weather and living that 24/7 festie frenzy. We’ve got all winter to sit, mope and come down.

You may say that once you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. But each festival has its own vibe and character. The Secret Garden Party is straight up decadence, Endorse It In Dorset is strictly music, and for those of you who want a political fix/direct action rush, why not try the Camp for Climate Action at Kingsnorth power station?

Bread and Circuses for the bohemian precariat? Quite possibly, not entirely but either way a whole lotta fun. I have nothing more to say about festies other than what I’ve said on these pages in the past. So I’ll let the pictures do the talking!
